Arden Guff from Australia started Busted Head Racket as a solo bedroom project. It grew into a trio, but for the new album “Go! Go! Go!” (Erste Theke / Idiotape), Guff took over the lead again. Except for playing drums, which was handled by Riley Gardiner.
Busted Head Racket delivers fast, off-kilter synth punk. Very lo-fi, very quirky, but also incredibly catchy. The joy lasts not much longer than fifteen minutes, but it’s definitely there.
Hazy hits that stumble in and rush through quickly. “Need for speed” is a real highlight, surrounded by punk bangers. Throughout, Guff remains cool, never hostile. In short: A lovely record.
