During their 2022 tour, Holy Wave found some time to step into Studio 22 in Los Angeles and work with Tomas Dolas. A few tracks from those sessions have already surfaced, but with Studio 22 Singles and B-Sides (Suicide Squeeze), we now get the full picture.
The laid-back psych rockers from Austin deliver their signature sound once again: expansive synth textures meet sun-drenched rock grooves. This time, though, there’s a noticeable touch of West Coast psych—likely a reflection of the recording atmosphere.
That influence shines brightest on “Father’s Prayer,” which drifts dreamily back to the 1960s. Melodic and sweetly psychedelic, it’s a highlight. Similarly, the wonderfully pop-tinged “Time Crisis Too” hits a breezy stride. Toward the end, two sketch-like tracks wrap things up, adding to the feel of a jam session captured in motion.
