Rarely has an album evoked such nostalgic feelings as the new release from Soundwire. This is pure ’90s—Loveless, Screamadelica, and Britpop all wrapped into one. Collider (Sister 9 / Little Cloud), the British band’s second album, fuses shoegaze and neo-psych into a beautifully wistful mix.
We drift over old dance floors, swaying to echoing rock. It’s all incredibly true to the style, standing in the footprints of giants. Yet, Soundwire doesn’t simply imitate—they carefully weave in modern elements.
Most tracks are fluid and layered in a classic way, but there are gentle departures, like the atmospheric Kill The Lights. Between immersive tracks, there’s room for a moment of serenity with Hollow Temple.
Otherwise, expect plenty of reverb and synth textures. The spacey Satellite is a standout. Was the world in a better place back then? Probably not—but the sound was great.
