A bit of peace and relaxation in chaotic times is always welcome, and Nice Biscuit delivers this perfectly. SOS (Bad Vibrations / The Reverberation Appreciation Society / Greenway) reinforces that once again.
Six years have passed between their debut and this second album. In between, there was a double EP and some solo ventures, but the Australian band truly shines when gathered for a full-length LP. It’s here that you can fully immerse yourself in their blend of fusion, funk, and psych rock.
Colorful sounds drift off into the void, with the double lead vocals from Billie Star and Grace Cuell being absolutely enchanting. It’s a truly pleasant work. Too mellow? Not at all. While the middle section might have you lost in a dreamy landscape, the last three tracks bring you back with some glammy rock.
The highlight and closing track is the cool, shimmering Breathe. Also fantastic is the rich, rocking yet elegantly flowing Rain. We’ve missed you, you good-natured beings with your quirky sounds.
