AANK (Fuzz Club) is already the seventh album by Kombynat Robotron. A shame we’ve only just discovered them—because their blown-out kraut-punk is absolutely glorious.
Formed in 2018 and based in Kiel, this trio isn’t just prolific when it comes to releases—they also bring serious momentum. Right from the opening track of AANK, titled “Staub,” the speakers get a proper workout. It’s driving krautrock of the smoothest kind.
But the album quickly shifts into noise and post-punk territory. Washed-out vocals drift over rumbling, chaotic sounds—always tinged with something psychedelic.
Then comes “Schnee”—powerful and heavy, showing the band can slow things down when they want to. This album really has it all: bangers, laid-back interludes, more bangers, and irresistibly flowing grooves. Time to dig into the back catalog.
