Earlier this spring, Floral Image released Gone Down Meadowland, a laid-back East Coast–style psych record. It was trippy, but in many places also rather tame. Now the British band presents Deeper Down Meadowland (Fuzz Club), three more songs from those same sessions.
Once again we get dreamy, multi-layered tracks—very pleasant throughout. “On A Feeling” breaks formation a bit, coming across more forceful. Nice indeed!
The release gains real depth through the included live recordings. “Burning 305,” already gripping on the studio record, sounds even more impressive here. “Tiergarten” unfolds into a superb seven-minute jam. A good studio band, an excellent live band.
