Australia has Amyl & the Sniffers, and New Zealand has Dick Move. The parallels are obvious—not only because both bands have a party monster of a frontwoman, but also because they play a riff-heavy hard rock punk that’s unbelievably catchy.
While Amyl & the Sniffers are world-famous, Dick Move are still more at home on smaller stages. Hopefully their new album Dream, Believe, Achieve (1:12 / Flying Nun) will finally change that. It’s a powerful, fantastic record that deserves far more attention.
Once again: snarky, swaggering, hard-rocking, and loaded with killer solos. An album built for beer-soaked chaos—full of attitude, but never overly serious.
Only one thing: maybe it’s missing that one big hit, the true banger that would push Dick Move to the front. “Bludger” might be it—forceful, but more of a grower. Or maybe we just missed something. Fine, one more spin. It’s worth it either way.
