In times of crisis, solidarity reveals itself. A world on the brink demands that artists support one another—offering shelter, food, and spiritual guidance. Syndrome (Feel It), the new album by SELF IMPROVEMENT, is rooted in that spirit.
The Los Angeles–based band embraces a collective approach throughout. The album was created as a collaborative effort; even producer Dylan Hadley contributed various noises to help sharpen the sound.
So what does it sound like? It’s danceable post-punk, but with plenty of rough edges. Catchy tracks like “Just Like Me” meet moments of oddity. It squeals and shrieks—and then, suddenly, a cool beat kicks in.
Not far removed from classic 1980s post-punk, yet modern and tinged with art-punk energy. It’s an album that definitely invites reflection and pause.
