The Sun Or The Moon open their third album, Into The Light (Tonzonen), with a three-part piece. Mutant Discotheque reveals everything you need to know about where the German band stands right now.
Their new work is atmospheric and proggy. Shedding their earlier psych-rock tendencies, The Sun Or The Moon now embrace the epic. At times, they even get funky—just as a mutant disco should.
Lyrically, the album reflects on our hopeless world, often dipping into dystopian or mystical territory. Bridal Day is a prime example, while elsewhere, the band lays out vast sonic landscapes.
It’s an album that serves well as a swan song of sorts. Yet, there’s still enough airiness to keep the descent into darkness from feeling too burdensome.
