Dakota Carlyle and Dylan McCartney, usually known for their eccentric sounds in The Serfs and The Drin, take a different route with Motorbike—throwing on leather jackets and rocking out. The band itself was born out of an accident.
Bassist/engineer Jerome Westerkamp crashed his motorcycle, and that was reason enough to turn it into a project. Their fantastic debut, a fusion of punk, post-punk, and power pop, dropped in 2023. Now, the follow-up Kick It Over (Feel It) is here.
The second album refines everything a bit. The foundation remains the same—honest, passionate rock with punk undertones. These come through especially on the trashy Nie Wrócimy. Overall, it’s something special.
The Cincinnati band keeps the energy high throughout the entire record. No missteps, nothing skippable. Kick It Over even works as a soundtrack for a motorcycle trip—endless highways, warm wind in your face, riding into the sun. Tracks like Currency and Quite Nice fit the vibe perfectly.
And then there’s the fantastic Jungle Land, bringing back memories of high-energy rock from the ’90s. Back then, denim jackets were more the style—how times change.
