The many voices are what make Delivery stand out. Four of the five members sing, each bringing their unique preferences to the mix. Perhaps that’s why Force Majeure (Heavenly), the new album from the Australian band, is so fantastic.
Their roots lie in garage rock and punk, but from there, they branch out in all directions. The result is a varied and dynamic affair, full of surprises. Take What Else?, which slides into lo-fi synth-pop, or Focus, Right, offering dreamy indie vibes.
Delivery are always catchy and compelling. The sound is richer than on their 2022 release, Forever Giving Handshakes, which was already a minor sensation.
The songs on Force Majeure deserve a bigger audience. Standouts like the punchy Digging The Hole or the cool, jangly The New Alphabet are ready to fill at least mid-sized venues.
Through it all, Delivery remain charming and celebrate their weirdness without ever feeling contrived. There’s a bit of quirkiness here and there, but it always feels deliberate. Great band, great album.
