Los Mundos must have fallen into a psychedelic rock cauldron as kids—or so it seems when diving into their new album Máquinas En Movimiento (Las Dunas).
They cover all subgenres, with the Mexican duo truly steeped in every magic elixir of the style. Sixties vibes, garage, kraut, space—they’ve got it all, and it’s executed masterfully.
There’s no risk of boredom here; it almost feels like listening to a sampler. Not a bad thing, though, as the tracks are captivating. The sprawling, otherworldly “Cosmologia” is followed by the drug-laced “La Música.” Eastern sounds on “Humo Negro” get sliced through with fuzz.
Elsewhere, there’s repetitive grooves, followed by hard-hitting rock. An absolute delight. “Tambores Para La Luna” bubbles along gently, while “Millones De Días” crashes through with force. There’s truly something for everyone here.
