Last year, Upchuck released their second album, “Bite The Hand That Feeds.” It was a triumph, a truly great garage punk album with ’90s appeal and a hint of catchiness. Ultimately, it even landed the Atlanta band in this year’s Coachella lineup.
The album was produced by Ty Segall, and with him, Upchuck found a kindred spirit. Now, there was still the debut album, “Sense Yourself” (Famous Class), lying around, and when Segall had Covid-induced boredom, he decided to remix it.
That mix is now available. It’s grittier, but also richer and more powerful. Add to that some fuzz and the typical quirks. Definitely worth a listen.
